The Book Theme Meme | Losing It by Cora Carmack

Hello and welcome back to The Book Theme Meme, a weekly meme that pairs books and music and hosted by me, Lila. Let me explain the rules of the game. If you want o participate, here's what to do:

  • Link back to the originator (Lila @ The Bookkeeper's Secrets)
  • Choose a book o series
  • Choose a song that you feel represents the book (fyi: it doesn't have to have words, it can be classical or score)
  • Tell us what about the song reminds you of the book. Is it a particular lyric/s? Is it the general feeling of the song? Explain a little.
  • Add your name, blog, and link to your post in the linky!
  • Voila! You're done!
So let's get to it!

This week I chose to feature Losing It by Cora Carmack and have paired it with the song "Temporary Love" by The Brinks. The lyrics
"There's no way you were ever in your right mind"
remind me of how Bliss always thinks Garrick is too good for her, that him liking her was just a fluke. And the lyrics
"We'll be caught in forever for a long time...
But your touch gets me so high"
reminds me of how Bliss and Garrick are so physically (and emotionally) attracted to each other that they just can't stay away, despite the "danger." Then the chorus
"So unsafe
Is this temporary love I crave?
will we ever get enough to take
From this memory, it was a phase/Is this temporary love?"
drives home Bliss's unsureness of whether or not she and Garrick have something real or if it was just a fling.
