Welcome to Hardcover Haven, a haven for any and all bookworms! I'm Lila, your guide around this particular patch of internet. I'm a twenty-something college student studying anthropology. When I'm not reading, I can usually be found singing, spending time with family and friends, and/or snuggling my two cats, Snoopy and Clementine.

welcome

Top 5 Wednesday | Mirrors

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme created by Lainey from gingerreadslainey and hosted by Sam from Thoughts On Tomes (both on YouTube). This week's theme is "characters you're most like," which I think is sooooo interesting! And Sam specifically stated we have to choose characters we're actually like, not characters we want to be like, which (in my opinion) makes it pretty difficult because you can never have an unbiased view of yourself. But I'll try my best! So without any further ado, here are the character's I believe I'm most like

Luna Lovegood (The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling)

Even though I have a lot of insecurities and anxieties about it, I think it's safe to say that I'm pretty smart. But I've always been smart in a different way, like Luna. I'm very open minded and interested in things that most people consider "fringe science." I believe that creativity and belief in the impossible are two key traits that any good scientist needs.

Karou (The Daughter of Smoke and Bone Trilogy by Laini Taylor)

In addition to being a scientist, I'm also very artistic, like Karou! Art (both visual and musical) is one of the most meaningful parts of my life. Plus, if my hair wasn't so fine, I'd totally be dying it different colors each week and I plan on getting several tattoos.

Emma Carstairs (The Dark Artifices by Cassandra Clare)

Like Emma, I'm really stubborn when it comes to the people I love and to the things I want to do. It's not just that I don't give up easily, I dig my feet in. And, like Emma, my stubbornness has gotten me into a fair amount of scrapes.

Tris Prior (The Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth)

I'm brave like Tris. As someone living with an anxiety disorder, I face my fears every day. Like Tris, I had to realize that the fears my mind conjures up aren't real and the only way to rid myself of them is to face them head on.

Amani (Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton)

Like Amani, I'm pretty defiant. I don't stick to norms and I aim to reach my dreams no matter what. I rarely let anyone or anything stop me.
