The Monthly Mood | October 2019 (ft. Aesthetics, Playlists, and Quotes!)

Hello, friends! Welcome to a new monthly segment that I’m calling “The Monthly Mood,” wherein I share my TBR for the month, an aesthetic moodboard for the month, my playlist of the month, a quote to meditate on, and some general thoughts! Basically, I want to create a general aesthetic picture of my month as best I can!

This month is all about getting into that cozy autumn feeling. We’re breaking out the cute sweaters and bringing back the boots and jumping into some autumn fun! Alternately, we could also snuggle up under a nice, fluffy blanket with a bookish candle and a giant tome and settle into the season. It’s whatever you like. Honestly I don’t know why but I think fall is the most #aesthetic season, which makes it the perfect season to debut this segment! So, let’s see what I hope this October has in store…

“What was magic anyway, but the world beheld by someone who chose to see it differently?”
A Crown of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi

Ah, October in the D.C. metro area, bringer of autumn and...insanely hot temperatures? You heard that right, folks! Autumn has officially begun but here in the DMV (the endearing nickname that residents so fondly call the D.C./Maryland/Northern Virginia area), we're still wearing shorts and crop tops and boiling in our own sweat. Tbh, fall doesn't really begin in this area until early to mid October, so this isn't exactly a shock, it's just not comfortable either. But anyhoo back to the point!

October is SPOOPY SEASON! (that's right, friends, I said spoopy, because I am the scardiest of scaredy-cats lol) And I'm unusually pumped for it this year? My friends and I have already started planning for a fun Halloween night get together and I'm super excited! I'm also planning to go see one or two of these neat lectures given by university professors that are hosted by a comedy club in D.C. They cover a variety of super fascinating topics and look hecka fun and funny, so I can't wait! My mom's birthday is also in October, so I'm happy for that too. So, basically all that plus school equals a packed month! But it's all good, I can't wait to see what it'll bring!

  • How was your September?
  • What are your plans for October?
  • What's a song that's been on repeat for you recently?
  • Any books, movies, and/or TV shows you're looking forward to this month?

TTYL!
