Lately With Lila | January 2020

Sunday, February 16, 2020

Hello again, friends, I’m Lila and you’re watching Disney Channel today I’m back with another monthly wrap up! I apologize for being so absent—my college’s Spring 2020 semester began and I was immediately bombarded with an overwhelming amount of schoolwork. With that being said, let’s get into the wrap up!

BOOKISH STUFF

READ

I loved this book!!! After reading the first two books in the Truly Devious trilogy, I had high expectations for The Hand on the Wall and I am pleased to say it delivered! It was so nice to be back with Stevie and the Ellingham Academy gang and to see them get into even more shenanigans. It was a brilliant conclusion to one of the most fun series I’ve read in a good while!

TBR

I’ma be real with y’all: I am still in a serious reading slump. The only book that’s seriously on my TBR is Skyward by Brandon Sanderson, which I actually began reading in the middle/end of January. So far I’m loving it, but I feel this weird need to savor my enjoyment. I feel like I just want to take time to revel in the world of Skyward and in getting to know the characters. But, hey, that’s the mark of a really great book, right?

JANUARY 2020 FAVORITES

MOVIES / TV

I started watching Netflix’s adaptation of The Witcher in December but I really just dug in in January. And guess what? I love it! It’s like the fantasy show of my dreams! It’s the production value of Game of Thrones with a more sarcastic tone and less on-screen brutalization of women! It’s amazing and I can’t recommend it enough!

JANUARY 2020 MEMORIES

January was one of the most intense months I’ve had in recent history, but, like, in a good way? The Spring 2020 semester began at my college and I was (and continue to be) just slammed with a ton of schoolwork. And I’m taking Calculus II and General University Physics I, so my school work this semester involves a lot of dedicated time, effort, and energy.

Weirdly enough, though, I haven’t been completely upset about it. I’m a tad overwhelmed, for sure, but I also genuinely enjoy the content of my courses and the work I do for them. Then again, I am a nerdy physics major, so maybe it was to be expected haha!

FORWARD THINKING

In all honesty, I can’t imagine I’ll spend February any different than January—that is, working hard on my courses. Sadly, I don’t see my workload diminishing anytime soon and I still need to learn how to balance everything effectively. So, this physicist-in-training is gonna be getting down to business to defeat the Huns! That being said, I do hope I can eventually find time to do something fun, so keep your fingers crossed for me!
