Welcome to Hardcover Haven, a haven for any and all bookworms! I'm Lila, your guide around this particular patch of internet. I'm a twenty-something college student studying anthropology. The Essentials Kit For Starting A Blog

I've wanted to do a series on blogging tips for a while now, so I figured, why not just start now? Though I am still quite young in blogging age, I have picked up some gems and I wanted to share them with you. Our first topic: what you'll need to start and maintain a great blog!

I'm not gonna lie: starting and maintaining a blog is hard work. It takes perseverance, organization, and creativity. But that doesn't mean it takes fancy or expensive equipment. No. In fact, the ingredients for a great blog are quite simple. Here's what you'll need.

General

Laptop Or Desktop

Obviously to blog you need a computer with internet access, preferable a portable one you can use on the go. That's where the laptop comes in

Phone

You'll need your phone for anything from blogging on the go to taking quick pictures to jotting down post ideas. Most likely your blog host has an app and you'll need apps for things like photo editing and list making too.

Social Media

Social media is a blogger's best friend and #1 tool. Not only can you use it to promote your content, but you can also interact with your followers and befriend fellow bloggers. It also can give you a good sense of what kind of content your followers like and want to see.

Editing And Design

Camera

Before you can do any editing, you need actual pictures. You can use your phone's camera or buy a fancy (or not so fancy) camera, but either way, you're going to need a camera.

Photo Editing Programs/Software

The first and most important thing you need when editing photos is the actual program to do it. And believe it or not, you do not need Photoshop. That's right, folks. There are plenty of free photo editing softwares, online programs, and apps out there that will suffice.

Royalty Free Image Sources

Are you crap at photography? Fear not because there are plenty of sources of royalty free images out there for you. I'll be doing a post later which will contain links to some of my faves!

Free Font Sources

Fonts are a great way to add creativity, personality, and flare to your blog. And there are thousands upon thousands of gorgeous free fonts out there! Again, my resources will be in my upcoming post!

Organization

Calender

Be it digital or physical, you'll want a good calander to keep track of posts and what gets posted when. Otherwise, it can get real confusing, real fast!

Notebooks

A good ol' notebook! You remember these prehistoric things we lugged around before we had laptops? Well they're a blogger's best friend. Whether it's for jotting down post ideas or writing notes on a book for your latest review, notebooks come in handy.

Aaand that's all! I told you: mind blowingly simple! Let me know in the comments your essential blogging tools!
