I did this book tag on Twitter, but I figured I'd expand upon my answers here! I forget who tagged me and who I tagged, but here it is!
1. The Little Mermaid--A character who is out of their element, a "fish out of water."
Cath from Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. Cath is...so out of her element at college. She's uncomfortable, she doesn't know how to fit in, let alone want to. Definition of "fish out of water."
2. Cinderella--A character who goes through a major transformation.
Bex Porter from The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan transforms from typical American college girl to princess-in-waiting!
3. Snow White--A book with an eclectic cast of characters.
Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton. The second half of this book has a terrific cast of unique characters!
4. Sleeping Beauty--A book that put you to sleep.
The Old Man and the Sea by Earnest Hemingway. This book. Was such a snooze. It was literally the same uninteresting fishing scene repeated over and over again. Ugh. Ironically, Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms is one of my favorite classics, though. Who woulda thunk it!
5. The Lion King--A character who had something traumatic happen to them in their childhood.
Celaena Sardothien from the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. I can't say what happens to her because of spoilers but trust me, it's traumatic.
6. Beauty and the Beast--A beast of a book (a big book) that you were intimidated by, but found the story to be beautiful.
7. Aladdin--A character who gets their wish granted, for better or worse.
Karou from the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor. Karou possesses a magical necklace made of teeth that grant wishes. Depending on the type of tooth and the size, different "sizes" of wishes can be granted. How cool!
8. Mulan--A character who pretends to be someone or something they are not.
Laia from An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. Laia's entire plot revolves around her going undercover as a slave at a military academy. If that's not pretending to be something you're not, then I don't know what is...
9. Toy Story--A book with characters you wish would come to life.
Er--all of them???
10. Disney Descendants--Your favorite villain or morally ambiguous character.
Warner from the Shatter Me trilogy by Tahereh Mafi. Oh, Warner...Warner is ...problematic, at times, to say the least. BUT you can't help but fall in love with him. His morals aren't always so clear cut, but one thing is clear and that is that I can't get enough of him!
