Music Moment | "The Mustang Kids" on the "Mississippi River" Show Their "Devil Side" and Participate in "Hometown""Teenage Crime"

Tuesday, May 24, 2016

Phew! That was one heckuva long title! But worth it for the fun (cheers "FOR THE FUN!!!"). Anyhow. I've been getting back into listening to more music. I feel like I've both discovered and rediscovered some really great artists in the past week. I've been into more upbeat, yet gritty pop. But anyhoo, let's cut the talk and get to the music!

"Mustang Kids" by Zella Day

I love the gritty, twangy, old western feel of this song. Plus Day sounds great whether she's singing folk or pop and I like this sound on her!

"Mississippi River" by Wild Belle

I've always loved Wild Belle, but I haven't been keeping up with the group. So I was really happy to see they have a new album out! It's their usual grunge pop sound, but a little crisper and I must say I love it!

"Hometown" by Twenty One Pilots

What can I say? Another great song by a great group!

"Teenage Crime" by Adrian Lux

I've been obsessing over this song since I discovered it on 8Tracks! It just has such a catchy beat and I find myself bobbing my head to it more often than not.

"Smile" by Mikky Ekko

This song makes me smile with all of its dark humor. I love how that dark humor is juxtaposed against an upbeat song. It makes you wanna jump up and dance before you can actually realize what the lyrics are.

"Devil Side" by Foxes

This is a great slower song. I feel like the song really showcases the lead singer's pipes, which, apparently, are really good. I'm a sucker for those whiskey voices, as you may notice.
